Lisa McKnight is board certified in family law
 To become Board Certified in a specialty area, an attorney must have:- Been licensed to practice law for at least five years;
- Devoted a required percentage of practice to a specialty area for at least three years;
- Handled a wide variety of matters in the area to demonstrate experience and involvement;
- Attended continuing education seminars regularly to keep legal training up to date;
- Been evaluated by fellow lawyers and judges;
- Passed a day-long written examination.

Lisa McKnight cares about children
As an attorney I have had the opportunity to represent children as guardian ad litem. I can remember one case that still affects me today. I represented an 8 year old girl who was in all likelihood going to be permanently removed from her mother and had been sexually abused by her father. I saw that my duty to this child was more than just her "attorney." I really cared about what happened to her. I picked her up from her foster home in south Dallas once a week or so. I remember the day she asked me when she was going home and I had to tell her that she might not. I will never forget that day and how she cried. It was a poignant reminder that the decisions our judges make and how we represent our clients will permanently affect them.

Although Lisa has handled numerous types of family law cases, her specialty is in handling complex divorce, custody, and property disputes.
